Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering for Bacon Street offers life-enriching experiences, opportunities for professional development, and the chance to learn about substance abuse and community resources for teens and young adults.

We are currently accepting applications for the following positions:

Operations:

  • Volunteer Administrative Assistant (Williamsburg, Gloucester, Newport News)- Perfect for people wanting to explore healthcare administration! We’re in need of administrative support for our clinical program in our Williamsburg and Yorktown locations. We’re looking for friendly and warm volunteers who are excited to be the first face clients see when they walk in the door.
    • Qualifications
      • Completion of Onboarding and Training (5 hours) prior to start date
      • Must pass a background check, sign confidentiality forms, and complete HIPAA training
      • Demonstrate knowledge of mental health and have a passion for breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health and substance use
      • Must be able to work at least 8 hours/week
      • Must be able to work independently, manage multiple priorities and respond to clients in a professional and reassuring manner
      • Demonstrate ability to work well with people of various ethnic, racial and socio-economic backgrounds
      • Demonstrate ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
    • Responsibilities
      • REPORTS TO Director of Operations
      • PRIMARY FUNCTION To answer the office phone, provide information and referrals to clients for services we don’t offer, and communicate client needs to the Director of Operations
      • Additionally provides administrative support to the staff through data entry
      • Greet clients for in-person appointments and notify their clinician of their arrival
      • Other duties as assigned
