Every week, we will update this page with two new coloring pages from our friends at Pariso Art, who have been kind enough to put this initiative together to help benefit Bacon Street!
During these stressful and uncertain times, coloring is a great way to practice mindfulness and reduce stress and anxiety. It gives your mind the opportunity to suspend your inner dialogue and engage in an activity that disregards the flow of negative thoughts that can dominate our lives, according to pyschologytoday.com.
Here is some information about the artists. . .
My husband Frank and I are both art teachers who work with grades 6-12. We are designing coloring pages as a simple art therapy exercise that can be enjoyed by any age group. As art teachers, we have found that making art can be used as a tool to relax, meditate, and connect with others and we want to share this resource with everyone. We are constantly seeking new ways to incorporate art therapy into our lessons so that anyone can experience art on a personal level, even if they’re not necessarily interested in developing artistic skills. Our purpose for art is to help others in a creative and relaxing way. It was an unexpected journey for both Frank and me to become art teachers – we both have an eclectic art-related background, but we found our passion for teaching. I graduated from The Massachusetts College of Art in Boston with a BFA in printmaking and Frank graduated from The Hartford Art School with a BFA in Illustration. We met while working together in Boston, moved to New York City to pursue our art careers, and then moved to the Williamsburg area about 5 years ago. We have two kids and we try to make art every day as it proves to be therapeutic for our family as well.
