Job Title: Development and Communications Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Development and Communications
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly Position
FTE: .50 FTE (20 hours/week)
Pay Rate: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour depending on experience

Bacon Street Youth and Family Services is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting youth and families through counseling, education, and prevention services. Our mission is to create healthier, stronger communities by addressing substance abuse and mental health challenges with a holistic and family-centered approach.
Position Summary:
The Development and Communications Coordinator plays a critical role in advancing Bacon Street’s mission by supporting fundraising efforts, cultivating donor relationships, and increasing community awareness through effective communication strategies. This position is ideal for a highly organized and creative professional with experience in nonprofit development and communications.
Key Responsibilities:
Development:
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing fundraising campaigns, events, and initiatives.
- Maintain and update the donor database (e.g., donor information, gift tracking, and acknowledgments).
- Research and identify grant opportunities.
- Support donor stewardship activities, including creating thank-you letters, impact reports, and other donor communications.
- Track fundraising progress and prepare reports for the Director of Development and Communications and Board of Directors.
Communications:
- Develop and implement an annual communications plan to raise awareness of Bacon Street’s mission and programs.
- Create content for social media platforms, newsletters, press releases, and the organization’s website.
- Manage the organization’s social media accounts, including posting updates, engaging with followers, and tracking analytics.
- Design promotional materials such as flyers, brochures, and event invitations.
- Work with media outlets to secure coverage of programs, events, and initiatives.
Collaboration and Administrative Support:
- Collaborate with the team to ensure consistent messaging across all communications.
- Provide logistical support for events, including volunteer coordination and vendor management.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to development and communications as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in nonprofit development, communications, or a related role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft compelling messages.
- Proficiency in using donor management software (e.g., DonorPerfect, Little Green Light etc.) and email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact).
- Experience managing social media accounts and creating digital content.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Google Drive and graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
