This year, World Mental Health Day is Sunday, October 10th.
What is World Mental Health Day, you ask? It is a day that follows Mental Health Illness Awareness Week with the purpose of uniting the entire globe for one cause; mental health awareness.
Mental health is as important as physical health, but comes with so much stigma. Mental healthcare is for everyone, and it does not mean you are “crazy” or “broken.” Whether you are affected by stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, substance use, grief, etc., your mental health matters. You are not alone.
Prioritizing a healthy mind, body, and soul is essential to having a thriving life; which is at the core of our work here at Bacon Street.
Take time for self care this WMHD by doing activities, such as:
- Stop and smell the roses… literally
- Go for a nature walk
- Practice yoga
- Meditate
- Exercise
- Perform a random act of kindness
- Get creative by painting, coloring, drawing, even playing with play dough!
- Dance like nobody is watching
- Jump around in a puddle
- Write your thoughts down
- Be a tourist in your town
- Do our phone photography scavenger hunt
- Play our WMHD Bingo
There are so many ways to care for your mental health, and it’s unique to every person. Do what is best for yourself today and every day.
