Virtual Support Groups for Teens and their Families

The world we live in right now is a stressful and chaotic one, especially for teenagers who are still trying to figure themselves out. Many are attempting to piece back lives that were flipped upside down. Parenting these teenagers is hard enough without being in the midst of a pandemic. Bacon Street knows that everyone could use someone to talk to now more than ever, but that it might be hard to find the help you need. That is why we are here for you.

Starting September 14, our Prevention and Clinical team members are providing free weekly online support groups for parents and teens. Parents/caregivers can drop in on Mondays from 6:30-7:30 pm. The teen group, which is open to anyone attending middle or high school, is on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30 pm. The groups are free, but registration is required to get access to each week’s session. To register, visit https://baconstreet.org/virtual-support-groups-for-families-teens/

Parents and caregivers can join to learn ways to navigate through topics that are important to them and their families. Similarly, teens can drop in and connect with our team members and other teenagers in a safe, supportive, and confidential space. You don’t need to worry about cost (it’s free!) — just come ready to talk and listen, and to feel heard and respected!

Covid-19 has caused increased levels of uncertainty, stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns among the population. In addition, financial insecurity due to the pandemic may make it more difficult for people to get the mental health help they need. Bacon Street wants to make it as accessible as possible for teens and their families to get the support they need right now. That’s why our drop-in support groups will be free and virtual, allowing you to join from wherever you are. Bacon Street’s support groups allow anyone to access support from our Clinical and Prevention teams, as well as other teenagers or parents/caregivers that can offer a sense of community.
