IRA distributions: If you are age 70 1/2 or older, you can make Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD) up to $100,000 each year from your Traditional IRA. These distributions count toward your Required Minimum Distribution. Because the money comes directly to Bacon Street, it can be excluded from your taxable income (with some exceptions). This popular provision in the tax code was made permanent in 2015 and applies to all qualified donors, whether or not you itemize. Please consult your financial or tax advisor to determine if a Charitable IRA distribution is right for you. To initiate an IRA QCD to Bacon Street, contact your IRA custodian.

Donate stock or other appreciated securities: To transfer a gift of appreciated securities, contact Bacon Street at (757) 253-0111 or development@baconstreet.org and let us know your name, address, the name and number of the securities transferred, and the valuation on the date of transfer.  We have an account with Edward Jones (DTC #0057 in the name of Bacon Street Youth Fam Svcs, account #46716810-1-5) to facilitate the transfer of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and other appreciated securities.
