An Interview with Director of Operations Nina Jones

Nina Jones has been at Bacon Street for nearly 3 years. In fact, if you’ve called Bacon Street in the past couple of years, there’s a good chance that you’ve spoken with her. In this time, she has moved from working as an Administrative Assistant to working as a Client Services Manager and the project lead for the Home First Williamsburg and Footprints Youth Collaborative Housing Program. Last month, she was promoted to Director of Operations, and now works hard every day to keep things running smoothly at Bacon Street. An Interview with Prevention Director Allison Jarvis

Allison Jarvis has been with Bacon Street ever since she interned with us over 6 years ago, and has touched the lives of many youth in our community in that time. As our Prevention Director, she works hard to provide youth and families with tools that promote mental health and empower youth to make healthy choices about substance use. Allison was driven to enter this work as both someone who had her own struggles as a young adult and as a mother of a young adult herself. An Interview with Counselor Jonathan Jenkins

Jonathan Jenkins is a clinician at Bacon Street who does both general and substance use counseling for youth and adults. He grew up in Williamsburg and received his training at William & Mary, where the Counseling program is part of the Education department in a nod to counseling’s origins in schools. Jonathan originally did his counseling residency with Bacon Street and we are happy that he has now returned to us. Mental health takes center stage at Bacon Street’s inaugural walk

Bacon Street hosted its inaugural Mental Health Matters Awareness Walk in partnership with Riverside Health on May 10, 2025, at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, VA. Over 100 community members gathered to raise awareness about mental health and reduce stigma around mental illness. In addition to raising awareness, the walk raised almost $30,000 for Bacon Street, which will be used to provide mental health and substance use services to all of their service areas including Williamsburg, Gloucester, and Newport News.
